About this build

Open Cadet pairs the reverse-engineered SpaceCadetPinball engine with an original neon playfield and synthesized sounds. It recreates the familiar table’s behavior without distributing Microsoft’s PINBALL.DAT. The replacement artwork is intentionally different from the Windows original.

What has been tested

Unpaused live keyboard play displayed the native launch-skill bonus and 7,500 score; read-only output scanning and a visually inspected screenshot confirm that one case. Separate read-only debugger stepping paired the native skill-shot AddScore call with a 0 to 30,000 score change and its matching bonus message. Exact hold timing is not calibrated or reliably repeatable. Earlier verification: Read-only debugger stepping in the unchanged live WASM traced eight native flipper contacts, all changing velocity, with speed increases on both components. No game memory, score, save or RNG edits; debugger pauses alter timing. Earlier tests: Live shared player: Z and / independently move the corresponding flipper, both move together, and release returns both image regions exactly to baseline before launch. The unchanged native runtime/source files match all four published hashes. Earlier normal launch-and-drain play earned 144,000; High Scores Ok and Stop game saved it, full browser restart restored settings byte-for-byte, and Game > High Scores displayed Player 1 / 144,000. Sound: off throughout. Unpaused collision timing and calibrated forces, all missions/objectives, full playthrough, rapid-close durability and audible audio remain unverified.

Last tested 2026-10-14 in Headless Microsoft Edge on Windows; muted. Full playthrough: not verified. How games are tested.

Known limitations

Saves

High scores and table settings are saved locally. A ball in progress is not a portable save state.
