About this build
Kiln runs independently authored CC0 maps, scripts, help text and glyphs in a native C++ port/rewrite derived from the permission-backed Super ZZT reconstruction. The edition is a small original relay puzzle. It is not the original Super ZZT campaign, a matching Pascal/DOS decompilation build, emulation or a certified clean-room reconstruction. No ROM or original retail files are needed.

What has been tested
Archive-rebuilt release candidate: normal keyboard key/door consumption, passages, scrolling, east-current carrying, stone pickup and gated relay, final KILN_DONE/score150 and native menu restart to score0/flags cleared. Earned stone native save restored byte-for-byte after full browser restart and ordinary R/menu/up-step; 37 native checkpoints independently checked and 34 malformed cases rejected. Player Stop unload tested locally; published acceptance is recorded separately in the dated distribution report. No retail campaign, lethal/combat/audio or all-engine claim.
Last tested 2026-10-13 in Headless Microsoft Edge on Windows; muted. Full playthrough: verified. How games are tested.
See the dated distribution and gameplay record.
Known limitations
- Original four-board puzzle, not the retail campaign or all legacy engine/editor/help features.
- Opens as a separate tab; requires cross-origin isolation, WebAssembly threads and keyboard. Other browsers, touch and controllers unverified.
- One earned stone checkpoint tested through full browser restart. Crash/rapid-close/storage refusal/quota/corruption/transfer and other save states remain unverified.
- No authored lethal hazards or combat; death/combat coverage is not claimed.
- Audio device omitted and all tests muted; no audible verification.
- 19 retained compiler warnings and unexercised legacy paths remain; glyph inventory is scoped to this authored puzzle.
Saves
Native SAV files persist in this browser under decompgames-kiln-super-zzt-saves-v2. Wait for Checkpoint saved locally before closing. R restores from the start menu; move to resume. Clearing site data removes saves; no portable transfer/export.
