A classic, rebuilt
reSL reconstructs ShortLine 1.1 in portable C++ and retains address-level provenance to the DOS executable in its original branch. Its upstream Emscripten target already establishes browser feasibility. The repository also identifies its bundled resource directory as original game data, so Decomp Games does not redistribute that build. An Open Junction replacement-data experiment is underway, but embedded visual tables still require a complete audit and replacement before it can become an instant-play entry.
What you need
The upstream build includes original ShortLine resources. Decomp Games currently provides project research only and serves none of those files.
This is a discovery entry. We do not currently provide a supported browser build. Follow the upstream project for its installation instructions and supported platforms.
Controls & input
- Upstream supports mouse and touch rail construction; browser mappings have not been verified by Decomp Games.
Saving your progress
Follow upstream save instructions. No supported Decomp Games player or save namespace exists yet.
Known limitations
- Directory entry only; the private feasibility build embeds original data and is not distributed.
- Independent external screens and icons exist as a prototype, but embedded fonts and gameplay glyphs remain under audit.
- No Decomp Games browser launch, gameplay-loop, audio, or persistence claim.
Source & assets
The engine and game data have separate licenses. A source release does not automatically make the original artwork, music, or levels freely redistributable.
